Delete my account
You can delete your CapTrail account at any time, from the app or by email.
Your subscription
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it first in the app (Account › Subscription › Manage my subscription) or in your App Store or Google Play account settings: otherwise, it keeps renewing.
1. From the app
- Open CapTrail and tap the “Account” tab.
- In the “Account” section, tap “Delete my account”.
- Read the summary and tap “Continue”.
- Enter your account’s email address, then tap “Delete permanently”.
2. By email
If you can no longer access the app, write to us from your account’s email address and ask for it to be deleted. We handle the request within one month at most.
Prepare the request emailWhat happens next
- As soon as the deletion is recorded (immediately from the app, otherwise when your email is handled), you can no longer sign in and your public routes are no longer visible.
- After 30 days, the data is permanently erased: profile (email address, display name, bio), routes (including those created from a GPX file), places and place folders, share links, blocks, diagnostic logs linked to your account, subscription information stored on our servers, and your sign-in identifier.
- To cancel the deletion before then, write to contact@captrailapp.com from your account’s email address.
What is kept
- Payments and their receipts are kept by Apple, Google or our web payment provider under their own rules; our accounting records are kept for 10 years.
- Your purchase history at RevenueCat, our subscription management provider, linked to your account’s technical identifier and, for a purchase in the web app, to the email address entered at payment, as proof of the transactions.
- If your subscription is not cancelled, the store keeps sending us its events; we erase them automatically after 30 days.
- The reports you sent, with no link to your account, for up to 12 months after they were sent.
- Reports about your routes, with the route’s name but no link to your account, for up to 12 months after they were sent.
- Diagnostic logs not linked to your account (for example, those sent before the CapTrail update that links them to it), until the end of their 12-month retention period.
